Mr William Bartlett

Consultant orthopaedic surgeon

Mr William Bartlett

Mr William Bartlett began his medical training in 1994 at University College London, where he won numerous prizes and scholarships including the Myerstein prize for best overall pre-clinical performance. He undertook his fellowship training at The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in Stanmore, with further experience gained in Texas and Ohio in the USA. He has been an NHS consultant since 2011 and is the clinical lead for the Orthopaedic Unit at The Whittington Hospital.

Whilst many of the patients that he looks after have active lifestyles, he has gained a large experience of treating patients who have been denied surgery because of concerns about age, obesity or complex medical conditions. Particular interests include robotic assisted surgery, minimally invasive techniques and short-stay recovery programmes.

His research into biological forms of joint repair and the use of custom-made prostheses has been published. He enjoys training the next generation of surgeons, teaching on postgraduate courses and reviewing scientific manuscripts for orthopaedic journals.
