We’re proud to share that Imperial College London’s Department of Mechanical Engineering has appointed leading orthopaedic surgeon Miss Sarah Muirhead- Allwood as a Visiting Professor, recognising her outstanding contributions to research and longstanding collaboration with the university. 

Sarah Muirhead-Allwood is one of the most prominent orthopaedic hip surgeons internationally, with a distinguished clinical career spanning more than three decades. She founded her hip replacement practice at The Princess Grace Hospital in 1989 and has since performed over 15,000 total hip replacement procedures. At the peak of her clinical activity, she was undertaking up to 700 surgeries annually. 

Alongside her clinical and commercial achievements, Sarah has made substantial contributions to the engineering dimensions of orthopaedics. She has been involved in the development of seven hip replacement technologies across multiple companies and has contributed extensively to the orthopaedic scientific literature.
